Rainy Rice Terraces in Banaue

Today we traveled to the famous Ifugao rice terraces in Banaue, and made the most of what was a pretty rainy day. The rice terraces were built over 2000 years ago by a people known today as the Ifugao tribe, using primitive tools to build stone-walled terraces throughout the region. The town of Banaue is surrounded by these terraces which are still very much in use today. As we walked through town the consistent greeting we received from the locals was, "Hello! It's raining!!"

Claire being her dorky self on the ride to Banaue. We passed at least 15 major rock slides along the road.

Selfies with the rice terraces behind us.

Today's big adventure was crossing a sketchy suspension bridge spanning a river. This thing was tied together with wires and sheet metal.

"This looked a lot better when we weren't on it.."

Safe and sound and happy to be alive. Tomorrow, trekking to Batad. Hoping the weather clears up!
