Gus the Goose here! We finally made it into Manila after a 21-hour migration from Vancouver, talk about heading south for the winter! Here are some pictures I took from our journey and our first day in Manila.
Claire really liked the high ceilings at Beijing International Airport, in the heart of Communist China.
Checking out some local culture at Fort Santiago in the old city, this old duck (?) is named Sandy.
Claire being Claire.
Aaand again..
This is Manila Cathedral, a truly inspiring work of architecture. Locals were abuzz inside getting the place ready for Pope Francis to visit in a couple of weeks.
This is the San Augustin Church, equally as impressive as Manila Cathedral. Both of these buildings were originally constructed in the 1500's and have been rebuilt repeatedly due to typhoons, earthquakes, and war. It is truly amazing how resilient the Filipino people are to be in what seems like a constant state of reconstruction yet remain so outgoing, happy, and welcoming. This truly is a remarkable place. More to come soon!
